i'm really surprised about the reviews i have read....my boyfriend and i decided to go last night for some beer, pizza and bruins our waiter was awesome, the tv's were great the food was awesome as well...especially the mediterranean platter, it had delicious cheeses and sauces, including lemon garlic hummus, and really hit the spot the bathrooms were clean, the whole place looked clean... i'm giving them 4 stars, but will reserve the right to revise accordingly, pending my next experience because we will definitely be back!

Came here after the place was recommended by a friend. Read the reviews after I sat down and was very concerned of the choice after reading them. Made wonder about what to order. Starter with the chicken and then ordered the 3 cheese mac with lobster. The chicken was tender, well seasoned and tasty! The lobster mac n cheese was phenomenal! I have found my new mac n cheese love! And it had bacon! The staff was attentive, friendly and caring. They even had belly dancers! Great food and experience. Would recommend it to anyone.

Here's a Margherita Pizza recipe for the cook... 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped 3 -4 large basil leaves, cut into strips 2 small tomatoes, cut thinly 4 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded 2 tablespoons parmesan cheese salt and pepper, to taste GARLIC and NO sauce.

The beer selection is above average. The food is marginal (Mt. Olympus burger would not impress Apollo). Service was below par. Place was empty on a late Sunday afternoon and they still appeared to be understaffed. Very slow in getting food and second beer arrived after I had finished my meal. 2nd beer was also not what I ordered.

We ventured here on a Sunday afternoon. Our server Alicia was great and that's the best thing I can say about this establishment. We ordered wings which arrived salmonella pink, discovered after taking a bite. They were taken back to the kitchen and then arrived back at the table, including the wing I had eaten that was re-cooked. Absolutely disgusting, this speaks volumes to their kitchen practices. Never again!!!!!

The atmoshere is different but the bar is made of chalkboards, yeah I said it. The food is decent. The reason I have it 4 stars was because ever since I moved to Portland I have yet to find good pizza and this pizza so far is my favorite. Its brick oven style and has great texture plus this place is close to home.

Most of the poor reviews for this establishment are pretty accurate. The decor was plain, the service was so-so and the food was not that great. After a long day of work, I was looking at sitting down and get some great food and some cold beer and I did not find it here. My Gyro did not taste very fresh as a matter of fact it was lukewarm. We also had some pita chips that were as hard as a rock so they were not very appetizing. In the middle of our meals we had these dancers come out onto the floor and start to grab people to come out and dance to greek style music. I told them that I just wanted to eat and drink and be happy .. the women were scantily clad where a family that was there even left with their children with dirty looks. Then the ladies kept asking me to dance .... and kept asking .... and kept .. well, you get the point. I feel as if this place might have some good food but nothing good was sitting at our table and then after the ladies came out to belly dance, we did not see our server for about 40 minutes. It was pretty brutal. I have heard from others that this place has some good food so, don't just go with my opinion on my visit because there has to be a reason they have one at old orchard and one in south portland. I think next time, I will have to pass.

We had just arrived from Denver and our hotel was across the street from Jimmy's. The 1st night we ate here we had a great experience. It was a Thursday night and the place was very busy....must have been because it was wings night. Our waitress Kelly was GREAT!!!! We had the HUGE veggie calzones. They were very big and very good. I had a side salad that was one of the best I have had. It had green peppers, kalamata olives, blue cheese crumbles, thought they would have used feta cheese, it being greek and all. My husband liked the house wine, and he liked the fact it was a full glass of wine:) Well we decided to go there again our last night there after having a full day. The experience did a 180. It was Sunday night around 6:30 the Patriots were playing and the place was pretty quite. The waitress April was HORRIBLE!!!!! She never came back around to check to see if everything was ok. My husband wanted another glass of wine and had to walk over to her to ask her for it. Then we waited and waited and finally he went to the bar himself to get the glass of wine. There weren't that many people in there so we have no idea what her problem was. She never even apologized about not getting his wine. I ordered the fish & chips. The fish was ok a little greasy, I have had much better. The fries were tasty and you get enough of them to feed a family of 4. My husband had a pizza, he really liked it, but I didn't it. Not big on a sweet red pizza sauce. It was suppose to have feta cheese on it, but they must have forgot to add it on. So both nights no feta cheese at a GREEK restaurant. Bottom line with this place is it can be a hit or miss, when it's a miss it's out of the ball park.

I went to the lunch pizza buffet there on 11/13 and had an absolutely terrible experience. We had been once before and had an ok meal but this time at noon on a Wednesday there was 1/2 of a buffalo chicken pizza on the buffet which looked as if it had been sitting for hours. There were 4 other pieces; my wife and I each had 2. Finally, after 20 minutes we had to ask our server if they were going to put any other pizzas out. She looked at us like we were from another planet and then finally went into the kitchen to talk to the cook. Since you can see the kitchen it was easy to tell that only then did the cook start making 2 more pizzas, both of which were overdone, almost burnt when they came out; and one of them was the same as what they previously had out. When they came out, the server came over and made a snide remark about whether that was better or not. Needless to say, we won't be going back there!

Welp, I can't say that I was really impressed. Especially when they told me that they ran out of tzatziki sauce. ... especially when it was a Friday night and the place was empty. .... and they are a Greek restaurant? The gyro meat was the frozen/reheated kind, not the slow roasting slab o' meat shaved off into a dripping pan of deliciousness. Probably won't be going back. Except for the waiter who can sing anything- he was pretty cool.

I had been wanting to try this place out for awhile. I love Greek food and have heard about the infamous beer menu from friends. We took the plunge today and ate there with our son. The restaurant strikes me as more of a happy hour/late night cafeteria, than someplace you would want to eat lunch or go out to eat a meal with family. Yelp has this listed as a seafood place, but there were maybe 3 seafood dishes on the menu total - Do NOT go here if you are hoping to eat seafood. We found the menu very difficult to choose from because of how disorganized and cluttered it is. They really need to pare down the menu in and organize it a little better. I ordered the fish and chips. The fries were great, but the plate was 80% fries, 20% fish. The haddock tasted OK, but it seemed like it may still have had skin on it and was tough around the edges and largely inedible. I would estimate there was less than 2 ounces of actual edible fish on my plate for $12.99. Also the bacon was undercooked and rubbery on my husbands burger. The ketchup tasted like cheap tomato paste. Yuk!!! The food took forever to come out of the kitchen and there was only one other table in the restaurant. The kitchen was extremely loud with offensive hip hop music blaring out of it and we got to listen to some conversation about fat bellydancers going on amongst the staff. At one point waitresses started crunk dancing in the kitchen in plan view of patrons. For a bar environment, this may not be a bad thing, but it's not something I want my kids experiencing during our rare lunch out on a Sunday. Needless to say we definitely will not be returning. My husband and I have been in and out of the bathroom several times in 2 hours since our meal and have stomachaches. We really regret eating there. The one star I give this place is because of the beer menu. Save yourself some money and a bellyache and go somewhere else.

I'm giving this place 2 stars only because of the great beer selection. The food and the atmosphere don't even deserve a star. It's a wide open room with the feel of a cafeteria or a grange hall bean suppah, but with food that can't even compare. The wings were super greasy and almost felt undercooked. Or maybe they were just the wings of obese chickens. Either way, it was an oily, flabby mess. The chicken in my sandwich tasted alright, but they just threw some spinach, olives, onions, mushy tomatoes and feta on a piece of dry pita. Really? Is that how you would make a sandwich at home? I think not. This is nothing but another place to get your butter and salt fix near the mall. Come here for beer...lots of them...and you might find it acceptable.

I've been here a couple of times, back when it first opens and then randomly a few times just recently.Honestly, this location leaves me a bit on the fence. The service is generally a solid great. Nice servers and bartenders, not a lot of conversation, but they check back frequently and are knowledgeable about the menu/drink selection. If I was rating on the service alone, I would say four and a half stars. The atmosphere is okay. It is mostly one big room and one big fenced in patio (which overlooks the mall parking lot, meh). There is a little bit of an acoustic issue, which could be mitigated if addressed with some noise absorbing tiles or otherwise. It is clean and well kept, so it is a minor thing unless there are a lot of people and its crowded. I would give a rating of three stars here. The food is really where I stumble. Its not solidly bad or good, even if you order the same items. The best was I can describe it is inconsistently okay. One time, I had an amazing calzone. The next time I ordered it, it was soggy and cold. One time, I had a great salad. The next time, it was devoid of greens. The drinks are solidly good. Food is a two star experience but drinks are a four star experience. I think I'm landing on three stars as I write this review. I would definitely go here for a happy hour (and will probably come back at some point). The service I have had is great and the drinks are great as well.

Meh. Slow service. We had a party of 7, so two of us arrived early to tend to drinks and appetizers. Waters and drinks came at an ok rate, but it was 35 minutes later that we saw the two appetizers come out. Our appetizers were long gone before our meals came and our bills were a painfully long wait. Meal was forgettable. I ordered a salad so I can't count that, but the appetizers were nothing to write home about. We got the wheat feta breadsticks. Fairly certain dough was a frozen generic brand. Bah. Go back? Not a horrible experience. Maybe if a group of people wanted to hang out.

Go for the drinks. I've never eaten here, but stop in from time to time for drinks when I am in town for work. The drinks are good, reasonably priced, and they have a huge beer selection, draught and bottle, if that is your thing. Sitting at the bar, bartenders have been friendly and attentive.

I don't mind it there. It's not my favorite place and its not the worst. Very middle of the road for me. It was a Wednesday at lunchtime and I went there with my team. We were seated quickly even though there were eight of us. Our waitress was nice and had no issue with doing separate checks for all of us. The wait for our food did seem a bit longer than normal. Nobody ordered anything extravagant, it was all sandwiches and burgers. My panini was really good and a big portion for me. It had roasted chicken, avocado, bacon and Swiss on it. The bread was crispy and the cheese was melty. I remember devouring it because we had at least a 30 minute wait for our food to arrive and by that point I was starving. I've really enjoyed the pizza bar during lunch. You can have all you can eat pizza plus salad and soup. That's pretty great and filling. Overall, it's a pretty good place to go. The prices aren't excessive and it's convenient to the mall area.

The only reason I can't give Jimmy the Greeks one star is that the wait staff worked very hard and seemed embarrassed that our food was not quite mediocre. My wife ordered the haddock sandwich, which was inedible. The haddock was slimy and soggy, suggesting that it had been frozen and recently thawed. Come on, this is Maine! Fish should be fresh. The waitress noticed that the sandwich had been abandoned and asked what was wrong (she was a great waitress), and she took the sandwich back without complaint. I had the California panini, which was just ok. The chicken was bland, but the avocado and bacon were better. It was about as good as a fast-food meal. My son had chicken fingers from the kids menu, which came with tater tots. The fingers were good, but the tater tots looked and tasted like the frozen ones we buy at the wholesale club. They were edible, but not great. There are so many great restaurants in the Portland area - I can't imagine why you wouldn't go to any of those instead of Jimmy the Greeks.

I've been to the original Jimmy's at Old Orchard Beach and I actually like this one better. The food is OK but the best things about this place is the location next to the Mall, the staff, the TVs for watching sports and an amazing selection of craft beers.

Went here this past weekend. Had a TERRIBLE experience in the OOB one(1.5hr wait for 2 burgers that were burnt after an entire baseball team came in and all got served before us! no apologies-completely ignored!~) and hoped maybe this one was better....NOPE My coworker loves this place but she even had a bad experience with the waitstaff in OOB this past weekend)I went to the SOPO location last weekend and ordered a veggie burger. What I received was a burnt disc. The waitress put the wrong meal in front of my boyfriend and it took 20+ mins for her to come back and literally "switch" the meals- gross My boyfriend got his cold panini- at this point, I've finished eating because 30 mins had already passed. He bites into it, and its AGAIN, the WRONG MEAL!! We tell the waitress and she apologizes once. We eat because we've already spent way too much time here (ps- there were maybe 4 other tables) and we have plans and can't wait any longer. We get our bill- no discount. Burger is still on the tab. No "hey sorry we messed up- have a free dessert on us!" NOTHING! This place needs to figure it out ASAP if they want customers. Worst chain i've been to thus far!

Ordered steak & cheese with fries... Sandwich was ok, but lettuce on a hot steak and cheese doesn't hold up well. Fries were cold so I sent them back, the waitress brings out another cold plate saying "if there not hot enough I'll get a fresh batch"... Daaaa...Isn't that what I asked for? Never again! Avoid this place!

They have an excellent beer tap menu, quite a bit of TVs to watch sports, and the waitresses are some of the best servers I've ever had. That's where the positives end, unfortunately. They used to have pretty delicious pizza (not your Otto's or Portland Pie, something different and in its own category), but they changed their recipe/ingredients about a year ago, and it just isn't even close to what it used to be. This is one of those places that has 400 items on the menu, instead of focusing on making just a few things really well. Now that the pizza is gone, there's nothing left on the menu I'd be willing to eat. This place advertises numerous events throughout the week, from belly dancing night to comedy and beyond. We've tried to attend one or two comedy nights in the past and there was nothing when we arrived-- even though the bar was packed, there were no comedians and no announcement that the event was canceled 30 minutes after the posted time. It was very bizarre. We left and went to the movies. It's such a bummer that their pizza changed because it was one of our go-to restaurants on long shopping days.

Changed my mind on the Saco location. Have been there a few times more since the last review and this last time - and I do mean LAST - was the straw that broke the camel's back. Was there on a Thursday around 2pm; family & I were starving after having driven up from Logan picking up our son. Figured the menu was large enough to offer something for everyone. It was not packed by any means; only the bar itself was busy, due to a World Cup game being on. THERE WERE SIX OCCUPIED BOOTHS & TABLES; FOUR OF WHICH WERE COULPES. We were sat a booth; it took the server five minutes to address us. Normally my wife & I will have beers; we stuck with sodas in the interest of time. We (four of us) ordered sodas, for which we waited at least eight minutes (servers get their own sodas here, so the delay couldn't be blamed on the bartender). When they were dropped off, we were ready to order - but the server did not ask if we were and turned & left. Around another five minutes went by, and she returned for our orders. We all ordered sandwiches, with my wife ordering a burger. The server did not ask if she wanted cheese, how she wanted it cooked, whether she wanted fries or rings, etc - my wife had to suggest all of that to her. SO - we waited a half hour for our food. During that time, a man sitting behind us walked up to the server while she was getting sodas for another table and said something that clearly was not pleasant. In time, this man & his wife left before his food came. Our server approached the table & told us our food was in the window and would be right up; we waited an additional 10 minutes before we, too, walked out before receiving our food. The icing on the cake was THE MANAGER/OWNER, a short guy with curly hair, WAS THERE THE WHOLE TIME AND KEPT LOOKING AT US, so he clearly knew what was going on, but did nothing to help - help the server, approach us to apologize for the wait, etc. This was all very unfortunate, as we always had good experiences when sitting at the bar itself. But I can't see going back and rewarding this place with our money when it's so poorly run and has management that clearly doesn't get involved with customer service. Oh - and the wings are flabby.

Good beer and alcohol selection. Slow service. Don't know if I can count this as a Greek and seafood place. I counted 4 Greek foods and 4 seafood foods. Had a bbq sandwich not much meat and sauce. Almost everything is 10 and above. They have daily specials and happy hour from 3-6. May come and drink but doubt I will eat here again.

When reading this keep in mind I love Falafel and have eaten it all over the world. I would like to think a Greek restaurant would have a pretty good falafel, not so much in this case. It wasn't horrible or anything, it was just off. I'm not sure if it was the seasoning or what. The orzo pasta salad isn't bad once you add some salt. The feta is delicious though. I STRONGLY recommend the feta and garlic breadstick appitizer it's delicious. However the service was superb and staff was extremely freindly. Very large menu with plenty of choices as well. Try the opa burger with feta.

Wow! It pains me to have to write this, but I can't be silent in good conscience. We have been to JTG's a few times and every time I felt I needed to give them another chance, that they were having a "bad night." Well, now a pattern has been established that I just can't remain passive about. Let me first say that our service there was EXCELLENT. Really. I'm not exaggerating the attention we got and the helpfulness of our server. Unfortunately, the food was absolutely abominable. We got there for Happy Hour and had a few beers. First of all, it is apparent to even a non-beer drinker that the Happy Hour beer specials are more intended to spotlight their highest margin beers and not their more interesting varieties. Thursday is Brewers Night and the offerings were embarrassing. It was also evident to me that their selection of taps has taken a turn for the worse since the ast time I was in there. I really can't recommend their variety of beer selection when compared to other Portland venues like the Great Lost Bear or $3 Deweys which seem to do a better job of providing a selection that real beer drinkers would appreciate. Now onto the food. We started out by getting a plate of nachos and one of their cheese flatbreads. Do you remember those frozen Elios pizzas your parents bought for your when you were a kid? They were rectangular and really awful like a sponge with ketchup on it. Well, those pizzas were better than JTG's flatbreads. The sauce was disappointing and tasted like it came out of a jar or can. And it tasted cheap and unremarkable. The flatbread was clearly pulled out of a bag and flopped on a plate. Nothing handmade with care will come to the table as a perfect square. Honestly, they have the raw ingredients for making a pizza, they could at least roll out some dough for the flatbread base. The nachos plate was relatively small compared to other places and it was overcooked (burned) and again (this word keeps coming up) cheap. JTG's apparent attitude is that their customers must not care that they are being served food of such quality and it seemed to me that they were again trying to maximize their profit margin by using poor quality ingredients. Our party was not too interested in attempting to put too much further interest or risk in trying their entrees and settled for some salads and a calzone. What damage can you do to a salad, right? Well, apparently a lot. I didn't eat the salads so I can't really testify to the taste but the amount of food that was left over and the comments my dining partners made were not complimentary. I had the calzone and it was again prepared with little care and the ingredients were consistent with our previous experiences that night. Here's what I would say to the JTG folks if they are reading this... There are a lot of places that people can go to that have a much better presentation and food quality. If you think your product is good (or even adequate), you should take your management team out and sample some of your competition in the area. You should hire someone who knows something about craft beers and not just push the brands that your distributors suggest. You have a real chance to be a destination spot if you just add a little more imagination and care in your offerings. Look around you. You are in a state with over 20 breweries producing over 100 different varieties of beers. If you were to compare your beer menu against that you would see just how lacking your offerings are. I feel especially wounded by our experience tonight because I was the one that suggested that we hold our reunion dinner at JTG's given their number of taps and what appeared to be a diverse menu. My dining partners were polite about their experience to me but I could tell by their lack of enthusiasm that they couldn't get out of there quick enough. Try harder or you will fail. There are just too many options out there for you to not care enough to be more remarkable. Good luck in the future, but I will not return.

My sister and I decided to eat here recently because we had a gift card. I had read the bad reviews but figured it couldn't be that bad since we wouldn't be paying. Boy, was I wrong! Upon entering the building, we were overwhelmed with a smell I can only assume was chlorine. It smelled like an indoor pool. Super weird, but we were seated right away and our server was friendly. We ordered nachos which were covered in some type of processed cheese sauce and gray looking ground beef. They weren't terrible, but I definitely wouldn't order them again. My sister ordered a salad and I ordered the fried chicken bowl, which is the same thing as the KFC bowls except not as good. The mashed potatoes must have been from a box, because that's exactly what they tasted like. The gravy had no flavor at all and the chicken bits looked like a cut up chicken patty. I took a few bites then handed it over to my sister, who couldn't even have her salad in front of her because it smelled so awful. In June we contacted Jimmy the Greek's to look into their 'function hall' after family and friends raved about the food at the original location in Old Orchard Beach. Management confirmed availability of the date and time in July and booked the room for us. The 'function hall' is just a room off to the side that opens up so that the rest of the restaurant can see you and you can hear the rest of the restaurant. The only positive side of this review is that we had fewer people in our party than anticipated and asked to order off the regular menu instead of the function menu. The restaurant was ok with this. I've used lots of restaurants' private rooms and halls for events and have almost never had a restaurant have a problem with this, though, so it's not going to bump this up from a one-star rating. Upon arriving, the girl at the hostess desk watched me drag in a stack of boxes and didn't come over to open the door. Once I sat down in a huff (it's pretty obvious I'm pregnant) she did offer to help me bring the load into the room. Maybe she was in a daze, but she was looking right at me as I struggled to get in the door. I can roll a cart across a flat surface, it's squeezing through two doors with thresholds and a belly that I could have used the assistance with. Not a soul mentioned that there would be kareoke at 8pm that night. When we originally booked the room, it wasn't mentioned either. Remember when I said you could hear the whole restaurant from the room? Well right at 8pm when I put on a video for my group, the kareoke DJ completely drowned out what we were doing. Even with the sound completely turned up in our room, you couldn't hear the audio of our DVD nor me talking into a microphone. I went to talk to the hostess and waitress, and both said they thought the kareoke was normally at 9pm. Neither seemed terribly concerned that it ruined our presentation. I do have to say the waitress assigned to our room was very nice and attentive to everything else for us. I do not remember her name. She may be the only saving grace of this establishment. We approached management that night about what happened and asked for the room fee to be refunded back (obviously we were willing to pay for all the mediocre food we ordered but we did NOT receive the private room space experience we paid for). Do you know what the bozo had the nerve to do? He hands my coworker four coupons for half off an appetizer upon the next visit. I was so upset I decided that it was in everyone's best interests if I called it a night and came back the next day to talk to another more reasonable manager. The next morning I went back and spoke with manager Lois (I think that was her name). I explained what happened and all she kept saying was "Oh, kareoke isn't normally until 9pm". Like that solves everything. I also noted that there was a new sign on the door that was advertising the earlier kareoke time, though it was supposed to start the following week. I insisted on a refund of the room fee and she said I'd have to talk to the owner, Peter. She took down my information and said he'd call me the following day. Every time I called the restaurant, he was conveniently not available. It's been a month since my first attempt to reach out to him. Do you think he called back? Ha. Perhaps this would be a different review if he had attempted to redeem himself and his restaurant. It is $100 we are talking about though at this point it is more about principle than the dollar value. Peter, this is NO way to treat customers or to run a business! You should be ashamed of yourself and be more dilligent when you screen candidates for employment. Everyone who attended our gathering that night was disgusted with Jimmy's and agreed that they would NOT be back and your little appetizer coupons were thrown in the trash. Well, except for one, because one person who lives near the other location asked if he could use it there instead. This may be the only review on Yelp as of August 23rd but rest assured the bad press has definitely been circulating throughout the South Portland area. Get your act together.

When reading this keep in mind I love Falafel and have eaten it all over the world. I would like to think a Greek restaurant would have a pretty good falafel, not so much in this case. It wasn't horrible or anything, it was just off. I'm not sure if it was the seasoning or what. The orzo pasta salad isn't bad once you add some salt. The feta is delicious though. I STRONGLY recommend the feta and garlic breadstick appitizer it's delicious. However the service was superb and staff was extremely freindly. Very large menu with plenty of choices as well. Try the opa burger with feta.

Ordered steak & cheese with fries... Sandwich was ok, but lettuce on a hot steak and cheese doesn't hold up well. Fries were cold so I sent them back, the waitress brings out another cold plate saying "if there not hot enough I'll get a fresh batch"... Daaaa...Isn't that what I asked for? Never again! Avoid this place!

We had just arrived from Denver and our hotel was across the street from Jimmy's. The 1st night we ate here we had a great experience. It was a Thursday night and the place was very busy....must have been because it was wings night. Our waitress Kelly was GREAT!!!! We had the HUGE veggie calzones. They were very big and very good. I had a side salad that was one of the best I have had. It had green peppers, kalamata olives, blue cheese crumbles, thought they would have used feta cheese, it being greek and all. My husband liked the house wine, and he liked the fact it was a full glass of wine:) Well we decided to go there again our last night there after having a full day. The experience did a 180. It was Sunday night around 6:30 the Patriots were playing and the place was pretty quite. The waitress April was HORRIBLE!!!!! She never came back around to check to see if everything was ok. My husband wanted another glass of wine and had to walk over to her to ask her for it. Then we waited and waited and finally he went to the bar himself to get the glass of wine. There weren't that many people in there so we have no idea what her problem was. She never even apologized about not getting his wine. I ordered the fish & chips. The fish was ok a little greasy, I have had much better. The fries were tasty and you get enough of them to feed a family of 4. My husband had a pizza, he really liked it, but I didn't it. Not big on a sweet red pizza sauce. It was suppose to have feta cheese on it, but they must have forgot to add it on. So both nights no feta cheese at a GREEK restaurant. Bottom line with this place is it can be a hit or miss, when it's a miss it's out of the ball park.

I'm giving this place 2 stars only because of the great beer selection. The food and the atmosphere don't even deserve a star. It's a wide open room with the feel of a cafeteria or a grange hall bean suppah, but with food that can't even compare. The wings were super greasy and almost felt undercooked. Or maybe they were just the wings of obese chickens. Either way, it was an oily, flabby mess. The chicken in my sandwich tasted alright, but they just threw some spinach, olives, onions, mushy tomatoes and feta on a piece of dry pita. Really? Is that how you would make a sandwich at home? I think not. This is nothing but another place to get your butter and salt fix near the mall. Come here for beer...lots of them...and you might find it acceptable.

I don't mind it there. It's not my favorite place and its not the worst. Very middle of the road for me. It was a Wednesday at lunchtime and I went there with my team. We were seated quickly even though there were eight of us. Our waitress was nice and had no issue with doing separate checks for all of us. The wait for our food did seem a bit longer than normal. Nobody ordered anything extravagant, it was all sandwiches and burgers. My panini was really good and a big portion for me. It had roasted chicken, avocado, bacon and Swiss on it. The bread was crispy and the cheese was melty. I remember devouring it because we had at least a 30 minute wait for our food to arrive and by that point I was starving. I've really enjoyed the pizza bar during lunch. You can have all you can eat pizza plus salad and soup. That's pretty great and filling. Overall, it's a pretty good place to go. The prices aren't excessive and it's convenient to the mall area.

The only reason I can't give Jimmy the Greeks one star is that the wait staff worked very hard and seemed embarrassed that our food was not quite mediocre. My wife ordered the haddock sandwich, which was inedible. The haddock was slimy and soggy, suggesting that it had been frozen and recently thawed. Come on, this is Maine! Fish should be fresh. The waitress noticed that the sandwich had been abandoned and asked what was wrong (she was a great waitress), and she took the sandwich back without complaint. I had the California panini, which was just ok. The chicken was bland, but the avocado and bacon were better. It was about as good as a fast-food meal. My son had chicken fingers from the kids menu, which came with tater tots. The fingers were good, but the tater tots looked and tasted like the frozen ones we buy at the wholesale club. They were edible, but not great. There are so many great restaurants in the Portland area - I can't imagine why you wouldn't go to any of those instead of Jimmy the Greeks.

I've been to the original Jimmy's at Old Orchard Beach and I actually like this one better. The food is OK but the best things about this place is the location next to the Mall, the staff, the TVs for watching sports and an amazing selection of craft beers.

My sister and I decided to eat here recently because we had a gift card. I had read the bad reviews but figured it couldn't be that bad since we wouldn't be paying. Boy, was I wrong! Upon entering the building, we were overwhelmed with a smell I can only assume was chlorine. It smelled like an indoor pool. Super weird, but we were seated right away and our server was friendly. We ordered nachos which were covered in some type of processed cheese sauce and gray looking ground beef. They weren't terrible, but I definitely wouldn't order them again. My sister ordered a salad and I ordered the fried chicken bowl, which is the same thing as the KFC bowls except not as good. The mashed potatoes must have been from a box, because that's exactly what they tasted like. The gravy had no flavor at all and the chicken bits looked like a cut up chicken patty. I took a few bites then handed it over to my sister, who couldn't even have her salad in front of her because it smelled so awful. She didn't take more than three bites and still got sick later in the evening. I wouldn't return to this restaurant, even with a gift card.

Went here this past weekend. Had a TERRIBLE experience in the OOB one(1.5hr wait for 2 burgers that were burnt after an entire baseball team came in and all got served before us! no apologies-completely ignored!~) and hoped maybe this one was better....NOPE My coworker loves this place but she even had a bad experience with the waitstaff in OOB this past weekend)I went to the SOPO location last weekend and ordered a veggie burger. What I received was a burnt disc. The waitress put the wrong meal in front of my boyfriend and it took 20+ mins for her to come back and literally "switch" the meals- gross My boyfriend got his cold panini- at this point, I've finished eating because 30 mins had already passed. He bites into it, and its AGAIN, the WRONG MEAL!! We tell the waitress and she apologizes once. We eat because we've already spent way too much time here (ps- there were maybe 4 other tables) and we have plans and can't wait any longer. We get our bill- no discount. Burger is still on the tab. No "hey sorry we messed up- have a free dessert on us!" NOTHING! This place needs to figure it out ASAP if they want customers. Worst chain i've been to thus far!

They have an excellent beer tap menu, quite a bit of TVs to watch sports, and the waitresses are some of the best servers I've ever had. That's where the positives end, unfortunately. They used to have pretty delicious pizza (not your Otto's or Portland Pie, something different and in its own category), but they changed their recipe/ingredients about a year ago, and it just isn't even close to what it used to be. This is one of those places that has 400 items on the menu, instead of focusing on making just a few things really well. Now that the pizza is gone, there's nothing left on the menu I'd be willing to eat. This place advertises numerous events throughout the week, from belly dancing night to comedy and beyond. We've tried to attend one or two comedy nights in the past and there was nothing when we arrived-- even though the bar was packed, there were no comedians and no announcement that the event was canceled 30 minutes after the posted time. It was very bizarre. We left and went to the movies. It's such a bummer that their pizza changed because it was one of our go-to restaurants on long shopping days.

Most of the poor reviews for this establishment are pretty accurate. The decor was plain, the service was so-so and the food was not that great. After a long day of work, I was looking at sitting down and get some great food and some cold beer and I did not find it here. My Gyro did not taste very fresh as a matter of fact it was lukewarm. We also had some pita chips that were as hard as a rock so they were not very appetizing. In the middle of our meals we had these dancers come out onto the floor and start to grab people to come out and dance to greek style music. I told them that I just wanted to eat and drink and be happy .. the women were scantily clad where a family that was there even left with their children with dirty looks. Then the ladies kept asking me to dance .... and kept asking .... and kept .. well, you get the point. I feel as if this place might have some good food but nothing good was sitting at our table and then after the ladies came out to belly dance, we did not see our server for about 40 minutes. It was pretty brutal. I have heard from others that this place has some good food so, don't just go with my opinion on my visit because there has to be a reason they have one at old orchard and one in south portland. I think next time, I will have to pass.

I went to the lunch pizza buffet there on 11/13 and had an absolutely terrible experience. We had been once before and had an ok meal but this time at noon on a Wednesday there was 1/2 of a buffalo chicken pizza on the buffet which looked as if it had been sitting for hours. There were 4 other pieces; my wife and I each had 2. Finally, after 20 minutes we had to ask our server if they were going to put any other pizzas out. She looked at us like we were from another planet and then finally went into the kitchen to talk to the cook. Since you can see the kitchen it was easy to tell that only then did the cook start making 2 more pizzas, both of which were overdone, almost burnt when they came out; and one of them was the same as what they previously had out. When they came out, the server came over and made a snide remark about whether that was better or not. Needless to say, we won't be going back there!

Welp, I can't say that I was really impressed. Especially when they told me that they ran out of tzatziki sauce. ... especially when it was a Friday night and the place was empty. .... and they are a Greek restaurant? The gyro meat was the frozen/reheated kind, not the slow roasting slab o' meat shaved off into a dripping pan of deliciousness. Probably won't be going back. Except for the waiter who can sing anything- he was pretty cool.

Changed my mind on the Saco location. Have been there a few times more since the last review and this last time - and I do mean LAST - was the straw that broke the camel's back. Was there on a Thursday around 2pm; family & I were starving after having driven up from Logan picking up our son. Figured the menu was large enough to offer something for everyone. It was not packed by any means; only the bar itself was busy, due to a World Cup game being on. THERE WERE SIX OCCUPIED BOOTHS & TABLES; FOUR OF WHICH WERE COULPES. We were sat a booth; it took the server five minutes to address us. Normally my wife & I will have beers; we stuck with sodas in the interest of time. We (four of us) ordered sodas, for which we waited at least eight minutes (servers get their own sodas here, so the delay couldn't be blamed on the bartender). When they were dropped off, we were ready to order - but the server did not ask if we were and turned & left. Around another five minutes went by, and she returned for our orders. We all ordered sandwiches, with my wife ordering a burger. The server did not ask if she wanted cheese, how she wanted it cooked, whether she wanted fries or rings, etc - my wife had to suggest all of that to her. SO - we waited a half hour for our food. During that time, a man sitting behind us walked up to the server while she was getting sodas for another table and said something that clearly was not pleasant. In time, this man & his wife left before his food came. Our server approached the table & told us our food was in the window and would be right up; we waited an additional 10 minutes before we, too, walked out before receiving our food. The icing on the cake was THE MANAGER/OWNER, a short guy with curly hair, WAS THERE THE WHOLE TIME AND KEPT LOOKING AT US, so he clearly knew what was going on, but did nothing to help - help the server, approach us to apologize for the wait, etc. This was all very unfortunate, as we always had good experiences when sitting at the bar itself. But I can't see going back and rewarding this place with our money when it's so poorly run and has management that clearly doesn't get involved with customer service. Oh - and the wings are flabby.

Wow! It pains me to have to write this, but I can't be silent in good conscience. We have been to JTG's a few times and every time I felt I needed to give them another chance, that they were having a "bad night." Well, now a pattern has been established that I just can't remain passive about. Let me first say that our service there was EXCELLENT. Really. I'm not exaggerating the attention we got and the helpfulness of our server. Unfortunately, the food was absolutely abominable. We got there for Happy Hour and had a few beers. First of all, it is apparent to even a non-beer drinker that the Happy Hour beer specials are more intended to spotlight their highest margin beers and not their more interesting varieties. Thursday is Brewers Night and the offerings were embarrassing. It was also evident to me that their selection of taps has taken a turn for the worse since the ast time I was in there. I really can't recommend their variety of beer selection when compared to other Portland venues like the Great Lost Bear or $3 Deweys which seem to do a better job of providing a selection that real beer drinkers would appreciate. Now onto the food. We started out by getting a plate of nachos and one of their cheese flatbreads. Do you remember those frozen Elios pizzas your parents bought for your when you were a kid? They were rectangular and really awful like a sponge with ketchup on it. Well, those pizzas were better than JTG's flatbreads. The sauce was disappointing and tasted like it came out of a jar or can. And it tasted cheap and unremarkable. The flatbread was clearly pulled out of a bag and flopped on a plate. Nothing handmade with care will come to the table as a perfect square. Honestly, they have the raw ingredients for making a pizza, they could at least roll out some dough for the flatbread base. The nachos plate was relatively small compared to other places and it was overcooked (burned) and again (this word keeps coming up) cheap. JTG's apparent attitude is that their customers must not care that they are being served food of such quality and it seemed to me that they were again trying to maximize their profit margin by using poor quality ingredients. Our party was not too interested in attempting to put too much further interest or risk in trying their entrees and settled for some salads and a calzone. What damage can you do to a salad, right? Well, apparently a lot. I didn't eat the salads so I can't really testify to the taste but the amount of food that was left over and the comments my dining partners made were not complimentary. I had the calzone and it was again prepared with little care and the ingredients were consistent with our previous experiences that night. Here's what I would say to the JTG folks if they are reading this... There are a lot of places that people can go to that have a much better presentation and food quality. If you think your product is good (or even adequate), you should take your management team out and sample some of your competition in the area. You should hire someone who knows something about craft beers and not just push the brands that your distributors suggest. You have a real chance to be a destination spot if you just add a little more imagination and care in your offerings. Look around you. You are in a state with over 20 breweries producing over 100 different varieties of beers. If you were to compare your beer menu against that you would see just how lacking your offerings are. I feel especially wounded by our experience tonight because I was the one that suggested that we hold our reunion dinner at JTG's given their number of taps and what appeared to be a diverse menu. My dining partners were polite about their experience to me but I could tell by their lack of enthusiasm that they couldn't get out of there quick enough. Try harder or you will fail. There are just too many options out there for you to not care enough to be more remarkable. Good luck in the future, but I will not return.

I've been here a couple of times, back when it first opens and then randomly a few times just recently.Honestly, this location leaves me a bit on the fence. The service is generally a solid great. Nice servers and bartenders, not a lot of conversation, but they check back frequently and are knowledgeable about the menu/drink selection. If I was rating on the service alone, I would say four and a half stars. The atmosphere is okay. It is mostly one big room and one big fenced in patio (which overlooks the mall parking lot, meh). There is a little bit of an acoustic issue, which could be mitigated if addressed with some noise absorbing tiles or otherwise. It is clean and well kept, so it is a minor thing unless there are a lot of people and its crowded. I would give a rating of three stars here. The food is really where I stumble. Its not solidly bad or good, even if you order the same items. The best was I can describe it is inconsistently okay. One time, I had an amazing calzone. The next time I ordered it, it was soggy and cold. One time, I had a great salad. The next time, it was devoid of greens. The drinks are solidly good. Food is a two star experience but drinks are a four star experience. I think I'm landing on three stars as I write this review. I would definitely go here for a happy hour (and will probably come back at some point). The service I have had is great and the drinks are great as well.

Meh. Slow service. We had a party of 7, so two of us arrived early to tend to drinks and appetizers. Waters and drinks came at an ok rate, but it was 35 minutes later that we saw the two appetizers come out. Our appetizers were long gone before our meals came and our bills were a painfully long wait. Meal was forgettable. I ordered a salad so I can't count that, but the appetizers were nothing to write home about. We got the wheat feta breadsticks. Fairly certain dough was a frozen generic brand. Bah. Go back? Not a horrible experience. Maybe if a group of people wanted to hang out.

Go for the drinks. I've never eaten here, but stop in from time to time for drinks when I am in town for work. The drinks are good, reasonably priced, and they have a huge beer selection, draught and bottle, if that is your thing. Sitting at the bar, bartenders have been friendly and attentive.

Starter with the chicken and then ordered the 3 cheese mac with lobster. The chicken was tender, well seasoned and tasty! The lobster mac n cheese was phenomenal! I have found my new mac n cheese love! And it had bacon! The staff was attentive, friendly and caring. They even had belly dancers! Great food and experience. Would recommend it to anyone.

Here's a Margherita Pizza recipe for the cook... 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped 3 -4 large basil leaves, cut into strips 2 small tomatoes, cut thinly 4 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded 2 tablespoons parmesan cheese salt and pepper, to taste GARLIC and NO sauce.

The beer selection is above average. The food is marginal (Mt. Olympus burger would not impress Apollo). Service was below par. Place was empty on a late Sunday afternoon and they still appeared to be understaffed. Very slow in getting food and second beer arrived after I had finished my meal. 2nd beer was also not what I ordered.

We ventured here on a Sunday afternoon. Our server Alicia was great and that's the best thing I can say about this establishment. We ordered wings which arrived salmonella pink, discovered after taking a bite. They were taken back to the kitchen and then arrived back at the table, including the wing I had eaten that was re-cooked. Absolutely disgusting, this speaks volumes to their kitchen practices. Never again!!!!!

I had been wanting to try this place out for awhile. I love Greek food and have heard about the infamous beer menu from friends. We took the plunge today and ate there with our son. The restaurant strikes me as more of a happy hour/late night cafeteria, than someplace you would want to eat lunch or go out to eat a meal with family. Yelp has this listed as a seafood place, but there were maybe 3 seafood dishes on the menu total - Do NOT go here if you are hoping to eat seafood. We found the menu very difficult to choose from because of how disorganized and cluttered it is. They really need to pare down the menu in and organize it a little better. I ordered the fish and chips. The fries were great, but the plate was 80% fries, 20% fish. The haddock tasted OK, but it seemed like it may still have had skin on it and was tough around the edges and largely inedible. I would estimate there was less than 2 ounces of actual edible fish on my plate for $12.99. Also the bacon was undercooked and rubbery on my husbands burger. The ketchup tasted like cheap tomato paste. Yuk!!! The food took forever to come out of the kitchen and there was only one other table in the restaurant. The kitchen was extremely loud with offensive hip hop music blaring out of it and we got to listen to some conversation about fat bellydancers going on amongst the staff. At one point waitresses started crunk dancing in the kitchen in plan view of patrons. For a bar environment, this may not be a bad thing, but it's not something I want my kids experiencing during our rare lunch out on a Sunday. Needless to say we definitely will not be returning. My husband and I have been in and out of the bathroom several times in 2 hours since our meal and have stomachaches. We really regret eating there. The one star I give this place is because of the beer menu. Save yourself some money and a bellyache and go somewhere else.

We had lunch on a Saturday afternoon and it was busy, the food came out in good time, the waitress Brittany was FABULOUS! I highly recommend the Strawberry Shortcake Martini. We loved it all!

Disregard the bad reviews; food and service are excellent. They even gave us a couple free beers. Great place; great people.

The atmoshere is different but the bar is made of chalkboards, yeah I said it. The food is decent. The reason I have it 4 stars was because ever since I moved to Portland I have yet to find good pizza and this pizza so far is my favorite. Its brick oven style and has great texture plus this place is close to home.

My wife and I had a really great meal at Jimmy the Greek's. The Gyros were fresh - delicious and plentiful. Service was warms and friendly. Large portions - I added it to my favorites

i'm really surprised about the reviews i have read....my boyfriend and i decided to go last night for some beer, pizza and bruins our waiter was awesome, the tv's were great the food was awesome as well...especially the mediterranean platter, it had delicious cheeses and sauces, including lemon garlic hummus, and really hit the spot the bathrooms were clean, the whole place looked clean... i'm giving them 4 stars, but will reserve the right to revise accordingly, pending my next experience because we will definitely be back!
